How long can you tred water? Ha ha ha!
This past month things have been very busy in my life. Not that I'm complaining, in fact, I prefer busyness to boredom most days. Lab work has picked up (a good thing) and soccer season has started (another good thing). A couple of weeks ago I even got to take a road trip with my friend, Jenn, and her boys to see the induction of Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Recently, however, there have been some less enjoyable events that have taken up my time and elevated my stress levels. These have to do with water...specifically that which is located in my laundry room. My first minor occurrence was a slow drip that I noticed in my water heater piping. Thankfully, one of the guys from my small group Bible study was able to fix this for me...THANKS NATE!!! However a week later I came home after work to find water pouring out of my house and spraying all over my laundry room. I immediately turned off the water at the shut-off valve and mopped up the 2 inches of standing water. In my frustration, I neglected to determine the exact source of this rupture. I did know that it was related to the HOT water, but only after I had the plumbers out did I discover that all I had was a burst hose behind my washing machine. Something, in hind sight, I probably could have fixed myself, but alas... The one good thing (I think it's still a good thing, although I'm not 100% sure right now) that came out of having the plumbers out was their suggestion that I file a water damage claim with my home owners insurance. On initial inspection, it looked like I was going to get my flooring replaced in the room for the price of my deductible and a little extra to cover some prior (before I bought the house) water damage to one area of the floor. Well, yesterday, when the construction workers started pulling up the old floor they ran into A LOT more prior water damage...to my floor joists as well as to the exterior (load baring) wall. My fears were confirmed today when I received a call from the insurance agent to inform me that repairs to this part would NOT be covered by my insurance:( It's really hard not to be upset and complain about this even though I know that it is really good that this damage was discovered before my house started falling down--literally! I should be hearing soon about the actual repair costs that I will be responsible for paying. I would be grateful for any prayers in this matter...that I would have enough money to make the payment(s), that I would not get too stressed out about all this, that perhaps my friends/family could help me with some of the work, that I might have some recourse with the previous owners of the house (or the inspector). I would really prefer to not have to go this final route, but we'll see what happens. I'll keep you all posted and upload some pictures soon.
